Hi there! My name is Holly and I’ve lived in High Point and Greensboro for the past 14 years. Whether you’re married or dating, new to the area or lived here a long time, have kids or not, or are just curious about what you can do in our area – I’m writing this blog for you.
My husband Ian and I are alternating months planning a date for each other while our kids enjoy a night at their grandparent’s house. We begin our dates in the afternoon with the goal of being back home by nine at the latest. Maybe it’s our elder millennial status, maybe it’s the constant grind of being parents and working, but we’re tired! We don’t want to stay out at the club or bar, we want to snuggle on the couch. We don’t want to shout to hear each other, we want to spend way too much time searching Netflix for a “short show” to finish off the night, while wearing our stretchy pants. I hope you’ll enjoy seeing where we went each month and getting a little inspiration for your next date or girls night.
Why should you listen to me? Well, back in 2014 I started the Greensboro Cash Mob, a group of residents who would meet up and visit a locally owned business and commit to spending a minimum amount there in cash. That was a lot of fun; we made lots of friends, explored Greensboro together, and made it on the news and into the newspaper! I then joined the Board of Directors for Triad Local First, working as a marketing volunteer on their initiatives such as Buy Local Season, a website refresh, email newsletters, and a printed gift guide/member directory for the 2014 holiday season. Needless to say, I’ve always had a thing for locally owned businesses and for a good long while I knew a lot about what to do and where to go in town.

We met at the Nathaniel Greene Statue and went to Design Archives.
Fast forward through the birth of my 2 children (who are now 6 and 9) and a couple of job changes, and I’m finding myself in a new chapter. I recently turned 40 (oof!) and have entered the sandwich generation – caring for my young kids and also for my aging father who has late stage Alzheimer’s Disease.
I haven’t been out as much in recent years, and I’m sad excited to say that there are SO many new places around town to explore. I can’t wait to tell you about them when I go!
So what do you say? Want to go out and be home by nine? Let’s go!
